📘 About This Calculator
This calculator estimates the required sample size for a case-control study, based on the expected odds ratio (OR), control exposure proportion (p0), significance level (α), desired power (1−β), and case:control ratio (r).
Formula used:
n1 = [(Zα/2 + Zβ)² × (r + 1) × p̄(1 − p̄)] / [r × (ln(OR))²]
- n1 = number of cases
- n0 = number of controls = r × n1
- p̄ = (p0 + p1) / 2
- p1 = (OR × p0) / [1 + p0(OR − 1)]
